Welcome to the first Installment of, “The Advantage”, APT’s Blog of Research and Thoughts. Commitment was one of the first topics we wanted to talk about mainly because we have been a little lackadaisical about posting our blogs and sending out our newsletters. Our commitment to you, other than training, has been on the low side. Well no more. From now on, we will share some of the best ideas, research, articles and thoughts from some of the best in the business. We will help you solve problems within your fitness, wellness, performance and nutritional goals. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and, if we don’t know the answer, we will help you find it! With that said, we also want to talk to you about your commitment level. Recently, at the end of one of our football lifts, I challanged each one of our players to commit to one thing, each day, to make them better. Right away they started talking about more weight on the bar or more reps. We stopped for a minute to discuss other options. What about the food they choose to eat to enhance recovery and growth? What if they went to bed 1 hour earlier each night? How about spending an extra 30 minutes a day learning something new instead of texting in a group chat or surfing facebook? We will talk about this more, but for today, make a short list of 2 to 3 things that you want to accomplish in the next few months. Now start putting down things that will help you achieve these goals. Work on 1 goal at a time, and do 1 thing each day until it is accomplished, then move on. Commit yourself to staying consistent, on task, and focused and you will surprise yourself!
